Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
When a name or a date of birth is typed into one of the search boxes on this site, that entry goes to the outside provider running the search. The provider processes the entry and returns results. We do not store or log what was typed on our end.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us is kept so that we can reply. Messages stay with the people who run this site, and they are not shared outside the organization unless a legal obligation requires it.
Data We Gather Automatically
Every page load creates technical details that our servers pick up:
- The IP address assigned to the device
- The browser in use and its version
- The device type and operating system
- The pages viewed and the time spent on each
- The site that referred the visit, when there is one
- A timestamp for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
This site uses cookies, which are small files stored on a device that show which pages get traffic and where visitors tend to leave. Analytics services help aggregate that traffic data. Browser settings can block cookies at any time, though some parts of the site may behave differently when they do.
What We Do With This Data
- Keeping the site online, loading quickly, and available
- Routing a search request to the partner service that handles it
- Learning which pages help readers and which ones need work
- Finding and fixing technical problems
- Showing advertising that may match a visitor's interests
No Warrant Data on File
This site does not host, maintain, compile, or sell any database of warrants or personal warrant-record information. It publishes general guidance about where Calvert County warrant records are held and how to check them through the Clerk of the Circuit Court, the District Court clerk and its commissioner station, and the sheriff's warrant unit. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and nothing collected about visitors is assembled into consumer reports or records about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Search boxes on this site are operated by outside companies. Whatever is entered into one of those tools is handled under that company's privacy policy rather than this one. Those partners set their own retention and sharing practices, and we do not control them. Read the partner's policy before submitting a search.
Links to Other Websites
Pages here link to Maryland Judiciary Case Search, court and clerk pages, the Calvert County Sheriff's Office, and other official resources. Following one of those links leaves this site, and the destination's privacy policy then governs the visit. Read it before sharing personal details.
Some advertising partners may track activity across sites to deliver targeted ads. That tracking runs on their systems, not on ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Some information may reach:
- Search partners that handle queries run from this site
- Analytics services used to measure traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place advertising on these pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
Standard security practices are used to protect the data described here. Nothing connected to the internet is beyond reach, so we do what we can to keep information secure without promising that a breach can never happen.
Users Under 18
This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has sent data to this site, contact us and it will be removed.
Your Data Rights
The Maryland Public Information Act gives the public a right of access to many records held by state and local agencies, including records held by the Calvert County Sheriff's Office, and Maryland law sets the fee and response rules for those requests. That law applies to government agencies, not to a private reference site like this one, so agency requests go to the agency's custodian of records. Where state consumer-protection or privacy law gives you rights over data a private site holds, you can at a minimum:
- Ask for a copy of what is on file about you
- Have inaccurate information corrected
- Request that your data be erased
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy may change over time. When it does, the revised version appears on this page with a new effective date. Check back to stay current with how visitor information is handled.
